This site is dedicated to the life and work of Dennis “The Phattie” Stauffer.
On January 18, 2012, Dennis died in a car crash on his way to pick up drum parts. Over the past 12 years, he built his business, Stauffer Percussion, from the ground up living by his motto: “Love your drums”.
Dennis built every drum himself with a meticulous attention to detail and the eye and skill of a true craftsman. He loved the challenge of building what others said couldn’t be done, or weren’t willing to attempt. His creative and innovative spirit attracted a wide range of loyal customers from all over the world. Dennis was a good ol’ boy, and his humble and caring nature made him a friend to all.
While Stauffer Percussion as a business cannot continue without him, it’s my intention that the brands he worked tirelessly to create will live on. I hope this site will serve as an inspiration to fellow craftsmen, artists, and musicians in the years to come.
The main content of this website is essentially as Dennis left it, a record of his passion and the art of drum building. If you knew Dennis and have stories to share or comments from your time exploring this site, there is an online guestbook and I invite you to leave a message that will be shared later on with our son, Roan.
Thank you for visiting,
Brittney Stauffer, Mrs. Stauffer Percussion
