Black Label 30′s style Trap Kit

With the recent Top Hat & Cane kit, we took it back to the 40′s with the finish and the 50′s with the hardware.  Today we step back another decade to the late 20′s and mid 30′s with a true Trap Kit style build.  Built with the goal of capturing the sound and style of the era with modern touches that make it tour-ready.  The sizes include a 14″x5″ main snare, 14″x12″ field drum/snare, 16″x14″ floor tom/cocktail drum, 22″x10″ bass, and an 11″ traditional Chinese tom.  The long list of custom touches includes pre-aged and inlaid wood hoops, an original 1920′s/1930′s Ludwig wood block, a clip-on tom mount, reproduction 3-point style strainers, low-boy hihat stand and much more.  For a full run-down of all the features check out this kit-tour video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LolMfua4mGw Check it out:

Close up look at the 30-ply Puzzle Snare

The previous blog post featured the crazy 7-piece Phattie Puzzle Kit.  Today we take a close-up look at the snare, a 14″x8″ 30-ply beast with an incredible amount of projection and killer rim shots.  All the standard goodies were included on this build: Trick GS007 strainer, Puresound wires, Evans heads, VSS maple shell, etc.  Custom touches include the laser engraved & personalized wood badge, 7/8 offset lugs, die cast hoops, stainless steel allen bolts inside, and the 30-ply shell construction.  Check it out:

A Phattie kit with an abundance of Puzzle

Here’s another great example of our exclusive Puzzle Glass Glitter, this time combined with themed wooden badges and powder coated hardware that really compliments the overall vibe.  Drum sizes include fast rack toms in 8″x6″, 10″x6.5″, and 12″x7″ with Alloy RIMS mounts; 14″x12″ and 16″x14″ floor toms with Alloy RIMS cradles; a thumping 24″x20″ bass and a 14″x8″ 30-Ply snare drum.  The hardware is powder coated solid high-gloss blue and the badges are laser engraved and profile-cut to match the kit.  Click here to check out more of our custom glass glitters and videos of some of the possibilities. Copper Pearl over a 1/2″ Maple Stave

This build featured a custom 13″ x 1/2″ thick stave shell that provides plenty of attack and solid, thick-sounding rim shots.  This is the first drum I’ve done using black chrome plated hardware over the copper pearl wrap, and it’s a beautiful combination.  Check it out:

Funky Phattie Hybrid for Friday

Sometimes a color combo comes out even sweeter than I’d hoped!  This hybrid mashes a purple acrylic center with red sparkle and looks killer.  Specs: 14″x6″, 10-ply maple sections with a 1/4″ thick acrylic center, solid brass tube lugs, Trick GS007 strainer, puresound wires, all the standard goodies.  Good way to start off the Friday:
